… I voted; now I wait …
The people of God should grieve at the horrible reality of abortion, just as the people of God in the ancient world should’ve grieved over the sacrifice of children, and just as God himself grieves over it. One thing this election might do for Christians, as my friend John H. Armstrong reminded me of tonight, is spur them to put more energy into grass-roots level involvement of the church to build relationships with pregnant women and invest in their lives with love and support. If abortion is legal, like many other sins, the church will have to save lives without the intervention of the government. The hope of the world is not the government, although we as Christians should be fully engaged in all means to be good stewards of God’s creation.
So we vote … and we wait ….
B l o g s h o t … a snapshot at online resources * 2 *
1. John H. Armstrong appreciates the motives and passion of Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron, but questions their method of evangelism and mourns their public debate with atheists. SEE HERE.
2. Chicago’s Skyline makes New York’s look rather dull–this will be especially true once Chicago Spire is done in 2010.

3. Owen Strachan writes a “just the facts ma’am” approach to the question, “Are Laws really that powerful in today’s world?”
4. Owen Strachan is one of the most productive people I know. I have actually asked him several times, “How do you find the time to do all that you do? I don’t see how you could possibly do all this!” That’s why it surprised me to see this post by Owen about how Tina Fey’s lifestyle is typical, and warns us about the temptation to be overly ambitious in life. Powerful piece.
5. Josh Howerton linked this picture on his blog from CNN … A spider eating a bird. How would you like to wake up with this sucker crawling around on your floor? If this doesn’t give you arachnophobia, nothing will.

Beware of the T-Mobile Scam!
Well … it’s not exactly a “scam,” because the information is in the “Term and Agreements” page that NOBODY EVER READS. Who has time to read all that legal stuff every time they purchase something or download software, etc. Who does that? (maybe lawyers do … but average people don’t).
So anyway … I just found out that T-MOBLE was charging me monthly for my access to the internet at Hot Spots (i.e. Starbucks) even though the 1-Year deal that I signed up for was terminated. Why? That’s just part of their policy. If you agree to any amount of time (one month, two month, one year, two years, etc.), they AUTOMATICALLY continue to charge you on a monthly basis once your designated time is over.
When I asked the T-Moble representative over the phone what the philosophy is behind this policy (I already knew, I just wanted to see if he would be honest), he was actually frank with me & told me it’s just to “get” people who don’t keep up with their account.
The workers aren’t trained to mention this tib bit of info to you when you sign up.
Now that’s shady

Straight Talk About Sincere Sexual Questions
Warning … The following material has adult content that may not be appropriate for small children, but most kids middle school and up already talk about this stuff all the time at school.
The following excerpt of from a post from The Mission and Vision page of Mars Hill Church, and was posted by Mark Driscoll.
Simply, according to God, marriage and sex are related, connected, and exclusive. Sex as God intends it is for one man and one woman in marriage with the overarching purpose of oneness. Subsequently, by definition anything that contradicts God’s intent is sinful. Thus, sinful acts include homosexuality, bestiality, bisexuality, fornication, friends with benefits, adultery, swinging, prostitution, masturbating a person who is not your spouse, oral sex with anyone other than your spouse, anal sex with anyone other than your spouse, heavy petting outside of marriage, dry humping outside of marriage, rape, polygamy, sinful lust, pornography, phone sex with someone other than your spouse, sexual chatting online with someone other than your spouse, prostitution, pedophilia, incest, and anything else invented next to try and escape the clear teachings of Scripture.
Can you think of any sexual sins Mark has left out?

Everyone’s a Heretic in Someone’s Eyes
Josh Howerton, a pastor in Nashville, comments on “The Shack” on a thread from Evangelical Village
So does someone have to be a theological colossus to engage artistically with Christianity? It seems like every time there’s a painting, song, book, poem, or movie that’s produced by a Christian, ten seminary professors pounce on it, pick its implications apart, and label it heresy.
U R B A N G L O R Y … a brief interview
My close friend Jonathan Ignacio, who manages The Crimson Window, just posted an interview with me and Aaron about U R B A N G L O R Y. Our vision is big, and this comes through especially when Aaron talks about it. However, we are starting out very, very small. We are not under some delusion that this thing is even going to take off like we hope it will. We are confident, however, that if God’s kingdom is always at work all around us, we will have plenty interesting stories to capture anywhere we go.
